The Club's October 10th tour of the Anheuser-Busch Beer facility in Jacksonville and dinner at Clark's Fish Camp has been cancelled. I apologize for the canellation. The Club's August event takes us to JekyllIsland
(www.jekyllisland.com)on Sunday, August 23rd. We will meet in the parking lot
at the Jekyll Island Visitor Information Center/Georgia State Patrol Station on
State Road 520 (Jekyll Island Causeway) at 10:30 AM. There is a
"free" museum and gift ship located in the InformationCenter.
Directions to the Center -- From I-95 take Georgia Exit 29 onto Highway 17/82
north for 6 miles. Take the Jekyll Island Causeway State Road 520 east. The VisitorInformationCenter/
Georgia State Patrol Station will be on the left. There is a $3.00 per vehicle
park entry fee to get on the island. We plan to cruise to The Rah Bar, JekyllIslandWharf, 1 Pier Road for lunch
(www.crossoverjekyll.com/rah_bar_menu). Following lunch, we plan to cruise the
island, which is one mile wide and nine miles long. After the cruise you are
free to explore to island on your own. There are millionaire homes, the TurtleRescueMuseum, and the historic

Woo Hoo!!! T-minus 30 days and counting till the 4th annual North American Solstice & SKY Meet!
GMR had the opportunity to attend an all hands meeting with the event
organizers this past weekend at the Omni Resort In Denver, CO and I
will tell you that this event is going to really set the bar!
All GM Roadster Club Members in good standing will be receiving a goodie bag upon arrival!

On Sunday, May 17th, the
Jacksonville GM Roadster Club hold a Meet, Greet and Eat event at
Whitey's Fish Camp, 2032 County Road 220, Orange Park. Reservations
are for 12:30PM. You may visit Whitey's web site at
www.whiteysfishcamp.com. Following lunch, we will hold a short "fun
run" to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Hibernia on Fleming Island.
The chapel is 1 of 5 oldest wooden churches still standing and in use
in Florida. The chapel was completed in 1878. From the chapel, we
plan to continue our "fun run" to the beautiful and serene Springs Park
located in Green Cove Spring on the St. Johns River. The park is the
setting for the mystical spring where water surges to the surface at
times greater than 3,000 gallons per minute at a constant temperature
of 78 degrees. Join Jacksonville GM Roadster Club family for a fun

Join the Jacksonville GM Roadster Club for the "Run to the Roses" in
Thomasville,
Georgia,
Saturday, April 18, 2009.
The Club will meet in the
Starbuck's parking lot, Exit 336, Mcclenny, at 8:15 AM. We will leave the
staging area promptly at 8:30 AM. Those along the I-75 corridor and Central Florida can meet the Club at the I-10 Exit 275 at
9:00 AM.
We will take US 90 west
from Exit 275 through Madison and turn north on
US 19 in Monticello. We should
arrive in Thomasville at by 10:30 AM. We plan to
motorcade to the Rose Garden and stop for a brief walk through of the gardens.
From the gardens, the Club will motor through Thomasville and head south on US 319 stopping
for a quick lunch at O'Neil's Country Buffet.
After lunch, we plan
to tour Pebble Hill Plantation on US 319 south (a fee is charged). You may want
to visit the Pebble Hill website at www.pebblehill.com .
From the plantation, the Club will return to downtown Thomasville motoring
through the historic district. We will pass by the "Big Oak" dating from 1680.
The "Big Oak" is a massive live oak with a limb span of 162 feet and standing 68
feet tall. We will park at or near the Lapham-Patterson House. This is the
heart of the historic district and we begin a walking tour of the
district.
We plan dinner at Jonah's
Fish and Grits Restaurant at 6:00 PM. Don't let the name deter you from dining
with us. I am told it is a great place to have dinner and the prices are
reasonable.

overnight in Thomasville, several of us have booked at the
Comfort Inn, 14866 US Hwy 19 South. You may contact them direct at (229)

The Jacksonville GM Roadster Club has planned a "fun run" from St. Augustine to the Ravine Gardens in Palatka. The run will take place Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11:30 AM. The Club will meet at the Race Trac Gas Station at the corner of State Road 16 and Toms Road just west of Interstate 95 Exit 318. Departure from the Race Trac is scheduled for 12 Noon. The route will take you through parts of the St. Johns County agricultural countryside. You will be seeing many of the cabbage and potato producing farms. The route will turn south along the scenic St. Johns River crossing the river at East Palatka. You will continue through parts of downtown Palatka arriving at the Ravine Gardens State Park. There is a $4.00 park entry fee charge per vehicle. After entering the park, the Club will drive the 1.8 mile loop road around the ravine. There will be opportunity to tour the park by foot. This is peak season for the azaleas. The park promises to be beautiful. The Ravine Gardens State park gets its name from a ravine created over thousands of years by water flowing from the sandy ridges on the shores of the St. Johns River. In 1933, the ravine was transferred into a beautiful garden by the federal WPA program. You will find the park alive with azaleas, various species of trees and shrubs, native plants and even a water garden or two. The Jacksonville GM Roadster Club has a "fun run" planned for Saturday, February 21, 2009, to Don Garlit's Museum, 13700 SW 16th Ave, Ocala. Lunch is planned along the way at the Dam Diner, 9685 SE Highway 464C, Ocklawaha (cash only - no credit cards). The staging area for those coming from the east coast will be at the Kangaroo Express Gas Station at the intersection of SR-19 and CR-42 in Altoona at 10:30 AM. We will depart promptly at 10:45 AM from Altoona for Ocala. We should arrive at the Dam Diner by noon for the lunch stop. We will depart the diner at 1:30 PM and make our way to the Don Garlit Museum. Estimated time of arrival at the museum is 2:30 PM. The rest of the afternoon is devoted to touring the various exhibits at the museum or you are free to tour historic Ocala.
