A
ride is planned for Saturday, November 15th to the Marjorie Kinnan
Rawlings' State Park in Cross Creek. A tour of the Rawlings' home is
planned by the Club.

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is a writer who came to
Cross Creek in 1928 to find a home and a place to write. She is the
author of 13 literary works, including "The Yearling" and "Cross
Creek". The cost to tour the home is $3.00 per person.

Following the
tour, we plan to have lunch at the The Yearling Restaurant located in
Cross Creek.
The Yearling opened in 1952 and was voted one of the Best
Restaurants in Florida by Florida Trend Magazine 2003 through 2007.
They pride themselves in serving "cracker cuisine". Following lunch, we
plan to motor to Micanopy. Our Club will "ride" the main street and
then stop for a walking tour of this quaint Florida town where you find
antique shops, including old book stores and stained glass shops and a
great ice cream shop. Located on the end of town is the Micanopy
Historical Society and Archive. The visit to the museum is worth the
short walk and requested $2.00 donation. The staging area for this
event is at the Hawthorne Square on the north side of US 301 at the
State Road 20 overpass in Hawthorne. We will meet at 10:00AM at the
Hawthorne Square and leave for Cross Creek and the rest of the day's
events at 10:15AM. Please RSVP by November 12, 2008, to Shirley Sapp at
