Join the Jacksonville GM Roadster Club for the "Run to the Roses" in
Thomasville,
Georgia,
Saturday, April 18, 2009.
The Club will meet in the
Starbuck's parking lot, Exit 336, Mcclenny, at 8:15 AM. We will leave the
staging area promptly at 8:30 AM. Those along the I-75 corridor and Central Florida can meet the Club at the I-10 Exit 275 at
9:00 AM.
We will take US 90 west
from Exit 275 through Madison and turn north on
US 19 in Monticello. We should
arrive in Thomasville at by 10:30 AM. We plan to
motorcade to the Rose Garden and stop for a brief walk through of the gardens.
From the gardens, the Club will motor through Thomasville and head south on US 319 stopping
for a quick lunch at O'Neil's Country Buffet.
After lunch, we plan
to tour Pebble Hill Plantation on US 319 south (a fee is charged). You may want
to visit the Pebble Hill website at www.pebblehill.com .
From the plantation, the Club will return to downtown Thomasville motoring
through the historic district. We will pass by the "Big Oak" dating from 1680.
The "Big Oak" is a massive live oak with a limb span of 162 feet and standing 68
feet tall. We will park at or near the Lapham-Patterson House. This is the
heart of the historic district and we begin a walking tour of the
district.
We plan dinner at Jonah's
Fish and Grits Restaurant at 6:00 PM. Don't let the name deter you from dining
with us. I am told it is a great place to have dinner and the prices are
reasonable.
